What a night...

Wow! Is all I can say about tonight fashion shows at LG Fashion Week! I saw two shows tonight, Mercedes-Benz Start Up and Attitude by Jay Manuel! I am thoroughly impressed! So excited for the Spring/Summer 2012 Season. Away with Winter!!!

First show of the night was Mercedes-Benz Start Up this show featured 5 up-and-coming Canadian Designer competing against each other for a solo fully produced Fall/Winter 2012 show at LG Fashion Week in March 2012, amoungst other prizes.

First to step onto the runway was the Collection of Unttld. Montreal designers Jose Manuel St-Jacques and Simon Belanger's Collection featured contrast and contradictions. Black and White, Hard and Soft. As quoted from the Mercedes-Benz Start Up program "An open proposition, the ultimate-type of luxury: to un-define your self every day. There are no rules. No names." To learn and see more visit, www.unttld.ca.

Second was Triarchy, designed by Vancouver designer Adam Taubenfligel. Adam's inspiration was adventure in both reality and fictional life. His main focus and passion is with denim construction. Making his main goal to incorporate the history of denim in the styles of modern denim today. To learn and see more visit, www.Triarchy.com or follow him on Twitter @TriarchyBrand.

Third was Cassie Dee, also a Vancouver based designer who launched her own line in 2010 under her own name. Her Spring 2012 Collection was inspired by old west Canadian road trips while
incoroorating bright colours. Creating all the patterns and designs herself makes this collection have superior fit and great attention to detail. To learn and see more visit, www.cassiedee.com or follow her on Twitter @cassiedee_ .

Fourth was Travis Taddeo, a designer from Montreal. The overall feel for this collection was a lifestyle brand for the original. Or as quotes from Travis himself "for the cool kids on the street". He also used the inspiration of adventure incorporating light organic fabrics and desert like designs. To learn and see more visit www.travistaddeo.com or follow him on Twitter @TravisTaddeo.

Last but not least was Martin Lim. Designed by Montreal designers Danielle Martin and Pao Lim. This dynamic duo used a previous trip to Europe as their main focus and inspiration. Always remembering how joyful travelling is while designing the collection. With winning other national and international awards, adding another win was in their future. Being the winners of the Mercedes-Benz Start Up we can look forward to their upcoming show next March showcasing their Fall 2012 Collection. Being awarded by Jessica Stam wasn't too shabby either! Seeing up and coming Canadian Designers really does showcase the talent this country has to offer the Fashion Industry, not just in Canada but all over the world. Can't wait to see what these designers come up with next and the Finalist in next year's Mercedes-Benz Start Up.

Next was Attitude by Jay Manuel. This show was crazy busy. The lines were insain, so packed. Thank goodness I had an Industry Pass or else I would not have gotten into that show. I was a bit skeptical about this show, as I wasn't sure what Mr. Jay Manuel had up his sleeve. However was floored with the collection. His use of pattern, colour, colour blocking, fabrics, texture, accessories and over wardrobing was out of this world. Every outfit I wanted straight of the model, however maybe in a couple of sizes larger. I cannot wait until Attitude by Jay Manuel hits a Sears near me so I can start shopping this Collection. This is a collection that cannot be missed and a wardrobe that will be incomplete without it! To follow Attitude by Jay Manuel on Twitter add @Attitude_JM .

I will be uploading pictures of tonights shows on my Twitter so please follow me @rmrebecca. Also, visit my friend Christina's blog, www.thestylemogul.com, as she will be uploading pictures and blogging about tonight's shows aswell.

Tomorrow is another busy day at LG Fashion Week, as Pink Tartan and Joe Fresh are hitting the runway that night! I can't wait... These are two shows that cannot be missed.

Until then,
Rebecca
