It's #NYFW: Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2017

"Cushnie and Ochs have spent years making body-con and cut-outs look refined, and that clean, modern silhouette remains their bottom line. In a nod to Smithson, the designers used tones that reflected his earthworks and sculptures, such as a shade of citrine on a crepe long-sleeved midi dress and midnight blue on the short-sleeved mock neck top with fractured lacing. As the show came to an end, the designers sent out a nearly naked dress with a sequined cascading panel and a fully sequined jumpsuit, both of which waved to Smithson’s “Map of Broken Glass” installation from 1969. Past met present and future in the Fall lineup, with new ideas such as textured separates and outerwear, including a midnight-colored brushed velvet fitted jacket and a collarless fur coat. The tunic fit on a long-sleeved sequined top and a white crepe sleeveless blouse with an asymmetrical cut seemed to speak to a more diverse audience, in terms of size and shape, than collections past. Overall, this outing felt slightly more grown up and polished than before, and it seemed to suggest the designers might be in the mood for a little change, rather than just banking on the tight, sultry dresses and jumpsuits that have brought them much of their financial success. The possibilities are endless for the next decade ahead." - vogue.com
