Château Argadens Bordeaux Blanc 2015 (Bordeaux, France) - Medium minus straw wth a youthful water rim. On the nose grass, honey, canned veggies such as asparagus and green beans, cantaloupe, pineapple, passion fruit, wet stone, and subtle perfume and floral notes. On the palate this wine was dry with medium minus alcohol (12%), medium plus acidity, medium body, and a medium plus length and complexity. Notes of asparagus, green beans, under ripe pineapple, cantaloupe/melon, grapefruit, and lemon. Sauvignon Blanc 65% / Semillon 35%
Château La Rose Sarron Graves Black 2015 (Graves, France) - Medium straw with a youthful rim. Medium minus intensity with notes of dry leaf, grapefruit, yellow apple, lemon, however more of a oily fruit skin note. On the palate this wine was dry with medium alcohol (13%), acidity, body, and complexity, and medium minus length. Notes of ripe apple, lemon skin, ripe pear, grapefruit, and mushroom or something nutty - I can’t put my finger on it. Semillon 50% / Sauvignon Blanc 40% / Muscadelle 10%
Château Grivière Médoc 2011 (Médoc, France) - Medium Garnet with a faded orange rim. On the nose medium intensity with notes of cedar, pencil shavings, tobacco, leather, baking spices, vanilla, green pepper, forest floor, flowers, and cooked/jammed cherry, blueberry, and blackberry. On the palate this wine was dry with medium alcohol (13%), tannins (chewy), acidity, body, length, and complexity. Notes of cooked/jammed cherry, dried plum, cigar, leather, baking spices, tobacco, and forest floor. Merlot 60% / Cabernet Sauvignon 40%
Château Beychevelle Amiral de Beycheyelle Saint-Julien 2014 (Saint-Julien, France) - Medium Ruby with a youthful rim. On the nose medium intensity with notes of baking spices, jalapeños, tomato, pencil shavings, fresh cherry, cassis, and black current, forest floor, chocolate, mocha, and a meaty (savoury) quality. On the palate this wine was dry with medium alcohol (13.5%), and medium plus tannins (dusty), acidity, body, length, and complexity. Notes of sour cherry and blackberry, tomato, green pepper, cedar, tobacco, and forest floor. Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot
Freemark Abbey Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 (Knights Valley, USA) - Medium plus Ruby w/ a youthful rim. On the nose medium plus intensity w/ notes of confected/ripe cherry, blueberry, fig, and raspberry, cherry cough syrup, vanilla, coconut, marshmallow, cedar, and fresh-turned earth. On the palate this wine was dry with high alcohol (14.5%), tannins (fine/dusty), acidity, and body, and medium plus length and complexity. Notes of confected blueberry, cherry, raspberry, mocha, and vanilla. Cabernet Sauvignon 75% / Merlot 11%
Château Langiais Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion 2010 (Saint-Émilion, France) - Medium plus garnet with a faded garnet rim. On the nose medium intensity with notes of dried violets, green pepper, graphite, cinnamon, ripe cherry, clove, chocolate, coffee, mocha, cedar, chocolate raisin, and rotting leaf. On the palate this wine was dry with a balanced medium plus alcohol (13.5%), tannins, acidity, body, length, and complexity. Notes of green pepper, raspberry, cherry, plum, strawberry, mocha, chocolate, baking spices, and earth. Merlot 70% / Cabernet Franc 25% / Cabernet Sauvignon 5%
Château Moncets Château du Chambrun Lalande-de-Pomerol 2008 (Lalonde-de-Pomerol, France) - Cloudy (unfiltered/gravity filtered) medium plus garnet with faded rim. On the nose cooked plum and strawberry, dried cherry, mushroom (truffle), chocolate, mocha, green pepper, jalapeño, smoke, pencil shavings, cedar, clove, and cinnamon. On the palate this wine was dry with medium plus alcohol (13.5%), length, and complexity, and high tannins (chewy/took up space), acidity, and body, notes of mushroom, green pepper, chocolate, mocha, cooked cherry, raspberry, and strawberry. Merlot 94% / Cabernet Franc 6%
Château de Cérons Cérons Blanc 2007 (Cérons, France) - Deep gold with a faded gold rim. On the nose green tea, asparagus, green beans, burnt honey, dried apricot, cabbage, match stick, candied ginger, and some funk due to botrytis. On the palate this wine was sweet with high body, medium alcohol (13%), and medium plus acidity, length, and complexity. Notes of dried apricot, green tea, honey, candied ginger, match stick, vanilla, butterscotch, caramel, and a musty/moldy funk. Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon / Muscadelle
